Speaking through images

A workshop on Alberto Martinengo's book, "Philosophies of metaphor"

University of Milan, Sala Crociera Alta | Via Festa del Perdono 7, Milan

Metaphor is a laboratory in which we can study phenomena that are complex but very frequent in our language. It is the place where words and images meet to allow us to understand the world in greater depth than is possible through mute observation. CEST is dedicating to this theme a study day that will take place Tuesday 14 March 2017 at the University of Milan, in collaboration with the Department of Literary, Philological and Linguistic Studies.

The initiative takes as its starting point the volume of Alberto Martinengo, Filosofia della metafora (Guerini, 2016), which will be discussed in two seminar sessions. In the morning students and young scholars will speak: Stefano Livio, Cosimo Nicolini, Ada Tenuti and Romain Valentino, chaired by Maria Grazia Bartolini. In the afternoon we will hear papers by the lecturers: Maria Grazia Rossi, Gianluca Garelli and Rita Messori, chaired by Anna Linda Callow. Alberto Martinengo will close the seminar.
